gaia marinese is an italian artist based between roma and paris. aspiring, emerging filmmaker, her practice centers on analog cinema, working primarily with super 8 film. in her films she explores recurring themes such as oneiric spaces ad the threshold between dreams and reality, the fragility of girlhood, memory, love and family, solitude and absence, with soft but rich and curated images. alongside filmmaking she explores photography, collage, music, fashion, painting and drawing, developing a multidisciplinary approach that moves fluidly between image, material, and narrative.

she holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from the sorbonne in paris, where she specialized in contemporary art with a focus on photography and cinema history. she went on to pursue a master’s degree in fine arts, specializing in moving image and creative processes. since 2023, she has been active in the film industry, she started working in camera rentals then went on to work as a camera assistant on multiple film productions. she also contributed on multiple independent and student film projects, engaging in a variety of set responsibilities.

she regularly works Re:Voir Video, a film label dedicated to experimental cinema. she has also worked as an assistant to photographer and director HLB, followed by internships and volunteer work in various photography and film festivals such as shortcutz paris (2025), nouvelle vague sul tevere film festival (2024), fol film festival (2024, 2023), promenades photographiques (2023) and film conferences as the project victor-e (2022).

she also has organized, documented and participated to various art exhibitions, working both as an artist and a curator.
