The photo booth was patented in 1925 by Anatol Josepho. Nearly 100 years after its original intent, it remains part of our everyday lives, retaining both its objective function as an identity photograph and its artistic value. I immersed myself in this world of instant imagery, where I encountered the fascinating work of artists such as Franco Vaccari and Naomi Leibowitz. I wanted to create a play of resemblances using photographs of my parents from the 1980s–90s, bringing them into dialogue with my own photo booth portraits. Images taken during a solo train journey I made across Europe in 2022. A game of hide-and-seek between shared traits and recognizable characteristics, in a search for intimacy within the automated flash of the booth.
